Google's imagining a world where all your computing is done through the browser. We're not there yet, but it's happening. The bottom line is that while there is virtually nothing that you'll be able to do with the Chrome OS that you won't be able to do equally well with Windows, there are literally millions of things that you can do with Windows today that you'll likely never be able to do with the Chrome OS.

So what do you guys think will be the long-term legacy of this release? Is the solid success of the Windows 7 release gonna steal Google's thunder? Does anyone care as much now as they would have 6 months ago?

It is a less usefull netbook os.

At least with a win/Linux net book I can watch videos, play music and games all offline.

Nearly all that this os does my iPhone already does.
