Title: very cool, and somehow relaxing, optical illusion
Post by: Darren Dirt on February 01, 2010, 02:22:25 PM
Of these rotating figures, in which direction is the middle one rotating? clockwise, anti-clockwise?

and for extra coolness effect, stare at the middle, then quickly glance at a side figure and back to staring at the middle. then do the same with the other side figure.

For once, an animated optical illusion that doesn't make you feel nauseous!

That is...  weird yet fascinating.  Without the colors to show which side is facing towards us, it's a 2D object collapsing and expanding, rather than spinning.  Mesmerizing.

This guy's fantastic TED talk really makes you realize how profound these kind of things are... what it says about how we perceive our sensory input...

also he mentions Scott (http://scottkim.com/webgames.html) "Puzzles are an art form" Kim: http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/eng/scott_kim_takes_apart_the_art_of_puzzles.html (PS: http://www.shufflebrain.com/ ftw! even non-facebookers (http://www.shufflebrain.com/?p=516) can try out Photograb, cool. )
