Speaking as a user of both. YouTube comments are generally way worse than anything I see on Twitter.
I think youtube is where all the people who've been rejected from 4chan and icanhascheezburger go.
hmm never notices, because I almost never read YouTube comments... they are some of the worst crap on the net.
