Looks like someone attempted to hijack my old wow account, received a REAL password reset mail from blizzard last night.. Updated my account by going directly to the site and also merged it into a battle.net account even though I don't play anymore.
Thought I would mention this since I get A LOT of fake phishing emails that look just like the official ones, however this one was real (checked the headers).
Just a heads up for anyone else with a old WOW account.
I got hacked December 31st, 2010. And I am actively playing again. For me they hacked my battle.net account (which is used for all Blizz games now) and my hotmail account that was linked to that account. I eventually got it all sorted out, by the Jan 02, 2011.
I actually got banned from WoW twice for 3 hours a piece. All official emails from Blizz, all legit hacking. Was funny, would be playing with my Hotmail open on a second monitor, and I would see a flood of password reset notices and then all of a sudden "Disconnected from Server". Try to relog and got your account is banned. Then a minute later I would get a Banned email from Blizzard Entertainment.
I have also heard if you call Blizz and complain that your account is being hacked, they will give you a free month to play again :D. That is what happened to two guys here in the office whom weren't active players.
Battle.net seems to be under constant assault, also deviantArt is under attack at the moment, a lot of peoples accounts getting hacked thanks to a XSS fault.
Almost tempted to get the battle.net authenticator app.
I got one because of my hack. I couldn't get the mobile phone app so I got the RSA instead. With the RSA, very unlikely it will ever happen again... and Diablo III comes out this year :P.
