No no no, it happened back in 1997!

Also, the likable T-800 is completely incompetent, everything it tries to do fails.

Actually I'm a little worried about WOPR, did we unplug that thing back in the 80s or what?

And now they're building COLOSSUS... man! Next thing you know Landru is here and we're caught, all out of Captain Kirks!

clearly the Rhythm didn't get the T-800... the key to human annihilation and/or world domination is the ability to dance!

suprised this thread didn't mention "AM".

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Have_No_Mouth,_and_I_Must_Scream

^ the Talk Page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:I_Have_No_Mouth,_and_I_Must_Scream) mentions that Collosus: The Forbin Project mighta been inspired by IHNMAIMS (which you can find here (http://classic-web.archive.org/web/20010616053153/http://www.scifi.com/scifiction/classics/classics_archive/ellison/ellison1.html))

on the subject of AI...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friendly_artificial_intelligence

"Friendly AI" is a term I have never heard before today.

After reading that all I can think of are the doors from Hitch-Hiker's Guide that were just super-happy to be used... very creepy.

To say nothing of Eddie the Computer.

Hmm, also Yes-Man from Fallout: New Vegas comes to mind as well.

I love how it starts out as a perfect satire of all those "hack" vids, then he is super-CALM he is as he narrates the unfolding chain of events of his creation...

Mythbusters brilliant guy is stupidly taking an unnecessary risk... I mean what if one of his techie buddies secretly inserts an AI chip?
