I found this cuz TheBearRocks.com does not have (!) an easy-to-find "Listen Live" link anywhere. wtf...
They sell these gismos now that use a free WiFi signal to connect to all the local station audio streams, obviously signal strength can be an issue depending on where you are but overall they work pretty well.
I have one in my laptop bag that works ok even downtown, I have a much better one at home (it picks up just about everything).
:B
Tunein has clients for smart phones.. I use it on my iPhone... Often is is much more clear than FM and you get song title and album art for many stations.

It's cool if your bandwidth is free otherwise... !

Most streams are 48kbit/s even on a 500MB data plan that is 23 hours of music. So not something you would stream all day but a few hours a day should not hurt.
I will say that I enjoy streaming radio from foreign lands, it's great listening to a drive time show at any time of day, but for local radio I just use a radio, unless reception is really bad.
Speaking of which, I see a lot of ads for Sonic lately... I'd listen to them more if they got a more powerful transmitter going. I don't think they have a relay north of the Yellowhead and it makes trying to listen to their morning show (which is best show) nigh impossible.

You can get Sonic via Tunein or the song website..
You may also want to check out The ZONE from Victoria which is similar or The Peak from Vancouver.

Sonic has an easy-to-find "Listen Live" link (http://player.rogersradio.ca/chdi) on their website http://www.sonic1029.com/ . But also they are among the many Edmonton links on the TuneIn.com page I included in the OP.
btw on the subject of Sonic, effin' sad news ain't it...
a few days ago, I listened to Garner read this little eulogy. And I almost started crying myself.
