PS: Eric Ruth (http://geek.pikimal.com/tag/eric-ruth/) Is A Genius*. Tanks for the retremories sir! http://ericruthgames.weebly.com/games.html Watched gameplay videos of his work and now I totally want to play Contra or Heavy Barrel... heck, or even Commando.

*with a lot of time on his hands, prolly.

Painfully insanely difficult and yet :sigh: I totally miss the feeling of playing games like that (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Data_East_Arcade_Classics) in the arcade... (although to think about it I would say "Jackal" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ogtv2FsUCWY) (aka "Top Gunner") was even worse for difficulty...)

Man! Contra, what a meat grinder. Even with all the cheats n' stuff enabled it's a bitch. I don't know anyone who's finished it (I mean I know OF people who've finished it but I don't personally know anyone who has).

Jamming on the old NES pad playing Contra... it's amazing my hands didn't fall off.

One thing that I do find interesting is how long the concept of "extra lives" lasted in video games as a concept. I mean it made sense back in the arcade (it was a way to make money) but at home it lost relevance (and became an annoyance), tying in back to the main thread I find it amusing about the comment made in the video about unlimited lives makes anything possible :)
