Also, some anonymous commenter is insisting Alberta Registries got hacked. Having heard stories about that source code and how that program runs, I'm wondering if they just hit a max size on their SAN and can't convince the guys in charge of hardware to buy more hard drives...
Well here's the list of services that were down:
driver?s licence renewals
corporate registry access
SPIN II
land titles
personal property registry access (HUTTAH!)
fine payments
vital statistics
I can almost certainly guarantee that for all those services to be down it would have to be a network failure on the GoA side.
Without revealing infrastructure details it would not surprise me if IT had tripped over a plug (as it's happened before... a couple of times) ;)
Yeah, I bet someone was @%&#ting bullets there though for a while, knowing how mellow and rational people in that area are...

As for the disk exceeding capacity (haha, like they had a SAN hahaha) that had been calculated to have run out in January-March period so, they must have finally got more space

It is ironic that just over a year ago; Service Alberta laid off many senior IT staff members who understood how this system worked. Of course they then tried to re-fill the same positions with temporary contracts for three times the price. I guess the saying ?you get what you pay for? really is true! Oh, and they outsourced firewall management too?. hummmm
okay fess up, which one of you guys was this? ;)
