I totally recognized the signature of the guy who did David Fincher's Se7en for sure (Mosaic too, I presume)

That was pretty well done, great find.

I'm a big fan of Saul Bass the man was a genius, interestingly many of the names that appear are mostly in chronological order based on their influence.

well, it is a "history" of... kinda makes sense it would go from the early days to the present.

Saul Bass was certainly The Man during the high-style era of the 50s thru the 70s... http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Saul+Bass+title+sequence

...the fake-intro got me wondering what other films Kyle "Se7en" Cooper has done titles for...

YIKES! more than 100! (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0178204/) (including Spiderman 1 2 and 3, TRON: Legacy, I Am Number Four, X-Men: First Class, and the creepy NiN-esque opening for American Horror Story (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfo5WQs7WR8)!) (there's a demo reel* from 2006 -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kf2yk1x-Fis -- and it's not all creepy stuff, if anything a running theme is that it's all about MOTION and Emotion!)

... and to think Cooper gives inspiration credit (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QSwTZZWux4g) to Stephen Frankfurt's title sequence for To Kill A Mockingbird (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMgK-r8uxm8), amazing what influence one person can have on an entire industry...

*I also found a 2009 demo reel for Danny Yount (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJBJU6mrRbg) (Six Feet Under, Pushing Daisies, The Invasion, Iron Man 1 closing credits (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43dqtnsRBHk) )

btw the Vimeo link in OP, it's up for a SXSW award:

(also if you don't recognize the names, almost all of them are talked about here: http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2010/10/04/the-art-of-the-film-title-throughout-cinema-history/ )

and that's right, holy crap, there is an actual, non-fictitious film about nothing but title sequences!

For the very first time in the history of cinema, a collection of the best contemporary title sequences is available on DVD. With a special focus on, but not limited to European film title sequences, the DVD also includes amazing titles made for TV, games and motion graphic events.

The second DVD, featuring 9 short documentaries on leading title designers, offers an insightful, behind-the-scenes look into the fascinating world of title design.

Featuring almost 3 hours of exciting content and representing the best international motion design talent, this 2 DVD-set is essential viewing for movie lovers, and an indispensable source of inspiration for designers, filmmakers and animators.

The DVD is handsomely produced and packaged, and comes with a 36-page booklet detailing the selected title sequences.

I'm guessing a large # of those interviewed are part of Prologue Films (http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Prologue+Films), wow that company is prolific (http://www.imdb.com/company/co0128783/)!

I wonder if Tom Kan is interviewed in the film (he designed the title sequence for Enter The Void http://www.artofthetitle.com/2011/11/21/enter-the-void/ , http://stapledesign.com/2011/03/10272/ )
