About the SimCity engine:
Part 1: http://youtu.be/vS0qURl_JJY
Part 2 Scenario 1: http://youtu.be/MxTcm1YFKcU
Part 2 Scenario 2: http://youtu.be/Hro0BEquiPE
Part 2 Scenario 3: http://youtu.be/_SfcDW2yJiM

That looks complicated.

I'm actually quite impressed how they use roads to communicate all this information between elements.

Water goes through pipes; I think in those videos they just happen to have the pipes in the same place as the roads.

Weird how they've abstracted everything down to Simulations, Agents, Rules, and Maps.

Having played previous SimCity games that included water it's the easiest way to distribute it (under streets), mostly because you remember that there's water pipes under there lol

So is anyone interesting in picking this game up?  I am interested in working with friends after seeing this trailer on how the multi-city stuff works: http://ca.ign.com/videos/2012/12/11/simcity-multi-city-play-trailer

I liked the simplicity of the original SimCity, then tried playing newer versions and just got overwhelmed (and yet I'll play Freeciv and remember the entire tech tree).  This latest instalment looks very cool!  But I'm a miner and a crafter now, and probably will be for a couple more years, and only really play one game at a time due to time constraints.  But yeah, having neighbouring cities that can support each other is very cool.
