Looks like this one will cut it close, however given the talent involved I think it is worth looking at.
That's for sure!
VOICE TALENT FTW!
kicktraq projects this one falling short of its goal!

Well if you watch their original pitch video it seems that 500,000 is the bare minimum they need to do a game and seem to be hoping for significant over funding to make a awesome game. They also piled on a lot of rewards at the end... However unlike the Double Fine Adventure they appear to have their engine already picked and have been cranking out living concept art scenes already, so their overhead might be really low.
Hard to say, it will be many months before we see the results of many of these high profile kickstarters... so far for the games I consider them cheap pre-orders so no loss to me unless there is no game at all... The pebble watch on the other hand is a much bigger risk, however that team had already produced a working product so again backing people with industry track-records doesn't seem crazy.
I think the real problems with kickstarter will happen when a high funded project fails due to inexperienced teams.. there have already been a few that found out the hard way that free tee-shirts cost a lot of money and effort to send out... let alone covering all those development expenses you may not have experience with the first time around.
For sure, that's the risk of investing pretty much. But hope for the best, particularly where a few projects are concerned.
At the very least it highlights gamers' desire for some "abandoned" series to come back.

A mostly abandon genre, none of the North American publishers where putting out any money for adventure game projects.

Finally got my STEAM key as a backer today.. Had to resurrect this thread to show the time scale.
Even so the game is still labeled early access / possibly incomplete lol.
