Title: Own cloud
Post by: Lazybones on June 30, 2012, 06:41:00 PM

ownCloud.org | Your Cloud, Your Data, Your Way!
http://owncloud.com

Given that I use Dropbox a lot I found this interesting. The fact it can also host address and calendar info was also very interesting.

I'm tempted to play with it myself.

I've been sorta keeping an eye on it ever since it was first thought up in the KDE community. I think its great that it's seeing the level of interest that it has. It helps (me) that KDE already has built in support for many of owncloud's features.

For me I am interested in it for the large amount of storage aspect... I haven't looked that close but if it ends up with a mobile sync client it could be awesome for both personal and business use.

Could forbid the use of things like dropbox for business docs and provide a reasonable secure self hosted alternative.

Yeah. I see that as being a big draw for many businesses.
