So we all know that enchanting has significantly changed in 1.3. It takes much less XP (825 vs the old 4625) to hit max level (30 vs the old 50), and you get XP from mining ores that drop (coal, diamond, lapis lazuli, redstone, emerald) and smelting pretty much anything (cobble to smooth stone, raw beef/pork/chicken to cooked, iron ore to iron ingot, gold ore to gold ingot, sand to glass, cactus to green color). So it's much easier to hit max level, which in turn makes it much easier to enchant items at max level.
Since we switched to 1.3, I've been making sure to enchant my pick axes; I've had a couple with Unbreaking III, a couple with Unbreaking III / Fortune III / Efficiency IV, one with Unbreaking III / Fortune III / Silk Touch, and a couple with Efficiency IV. I've been excavating a giant room (http://mc.tomasu.org/#/1557/64/772/-1/0/1), and I've found Efficiency is the coolest enchantment - it makes the diamond pick cut through stone like it's netherrack (or butter, if you prefer that comparison). Fortune has been really nice when I find coal or diamonds, as I usually get double or triple the regular amount of said ores. Unbreaking is nice because it lets the pick last longer, too.
So have any of you started enchanting all your tools? If you do, make sure to surround your enchantment table with 15 bookshelves to get the maximum boost to enchantment levels; that way you'll get the double- or triple-enchanted items more often.
Oh, and I've mined about 49,000 blocks out of that giant room, and have about 55,000 to go :)
That's... a big room!
Speaking of big I finally checked out your Spruce Moose there, holey moley it's huge!
Spruce Moose? Spruce Goose? Yeah, it's large :) But then it was supposed to be the biggest plane ever built, so it's supposed to be big!
Just enchanted me a couple more pickaxes, one with Efficiency IV (that's not gonna last long!), the other with Efficiency IV, Unbreaking III, Fortune III. It seems those triple-enchanted picks occur every second or third try.
time to build a heli-carrier! lol
Maybe next year, cutting out this room and then building something in it will take me until Christmas, at the rate I'm going now.

Haha, and just think EE is only one mod of many on Tekkit LOL
Yeah, I know, there's lots more that can be done with it.
Speaking of mods, type "/ontime" next time you're online, and then type "/ontime LennyLen". That guy spends way too much time in Minecraft :)
