It's millionaires and billionaires fighting over who gets more of the pie.  They've done nothing and will do nothing about making it any better for the rest of us, and meanwhile parents will continue to push their kids into hockey in the hopes that one day they'll be millionaires too.

Yeah, it's hard to feel sympathy for 'em.

Meanwhile Canadian Auto Workers may be heading toward a strike.

Yeah, CAW going on strike'll be interesting.  There's lots of doom and gloom being spread about how the Ontario economy is going to collapse if the auto workers aren't working, making money and then spending it.  Of course, that's all coming from the CAW; it sounds more like FUD than truth.

Yep, though it seems like heavy industry seems to be bailing out of OT, I was reading earlier that all their locomotive plants shut down at the same time (August maybe?)

Not sure what the demand is like for diesel locomotives but it all moved back south of the border.

Edit: It was the Caterpillar Inc plant in London Ontario that closed because the ~500 people there weren't willing to work for 1/2 pay.

OT?  Did you mean ON for Ontario, or is OT some place in Ontario?

Part of the problem with Canadian autoworkers' pay currently is that the CAD is higher in value than the USD.  This means that worker salaries are a higher percentage of the cost of producing a car meant to be sold in the US than they used to be even a few years ago.  Throw in that many Americans are choosing to spend less on cars and hang onto them longer, there is now a slowdown of purchases compounding the problem.

The CAW-negotiated pay rates and pension plans are pretty damn good, though.

Well I'm a damn immigrant, I've always seen it referred to as ON and I've never lived there to hear the local slang...  All I know is T.O. is short for Toronto, Ontario (aka the center of the Canadian universe).  I thought maybe OT was some acronym for some town with heavy manufacturing ties.

Anyway, NHLPA are as big of crybabies as NHL owners.
