Title: Grand Porter Co invents Tele-Portals
Post by: Thorin on December 06, 2012, 12:34:34 PM
For Immediate Release

Grand Porter Company Invents Tele-PortalsTM
-- Starts Building Grand Central Hub and Regional Stations

Newly-founded Grand Porter Company last night announced that it had invented Tele-PortalsTM, a new technology that allows instantaneous transportation to another part of the world.  Founder ThorinC explains that the technology is uni-directional, but that Grand Porter Co is planning a hub-and-spoke design to its network, allowing instant transport from any regional Tele-Portal to Grand Porter's Central Station.  From Grand Central, travellers can then be instantly transported to any other region that Grand Porter services.

Grand Porter looking for Partners

"Although we were the first to develop Tele-Portals, we hope to partner with the other great houses of Usamot to quickly roll out a network of Tele-Portals that will allow ordinary citizens and lords alike to easily travel the world", said ThorinC, speaking about Grand Porter's plans for rapid expansion.  "This infrastructure is crucial to the embiggening of Usamot's citizenry, allowing those of Edge City, the great kingdom of Moo Hal, the southern frontiers, residents of Nordvang, and even the UFO-endangered Freeporters to visit each other, trade with each other, and learn from each other."

Grand Central Station

Grand Central is still in its early stages of construction, but ThorinC stated it is planned to turn into a super-large building, with a ceiling almost out of sight and the latest adornments on the walls.  There is a connection planned to the UTA's subway, most likely the A line.  There is also plans for a protected walking route to Spawn City and to US Rail's Pineview station.

Using the Tele-Portals

Grand Porter's Tele-Portals bear a striking design, made of red bricks but being simple in design.  To use them, stand on the Tele-Portal Pad (directly in front of the button) and push the button.  All Tele-Portals are marked as to where they will send the user.

A terminal design sketch has been submitted by Great Eastern for consideration.

We should make it mandatory to view that building with connected textures on.

For the concrete portions I'll use smooth stone

For details and to give it a sense of height I'll use bricks.

Interior floor I'm thinking checkerboard pattern (either wood or wool)

Wooden fixtures/finishings, fences, iron bars.

Grand Porter Co acknowledges and thanks Great Eastern Mining Co for the submitted artist's rendering of the planned Grand Central Station and the partial listing of material specifications.  Grand Porter further suggests glowstone lamps rather than torches, cobblestone walls to demarcate the property line, and smooth sandstone for interior fountains if desired.

Grand Porter and/or Great Eastern, whoever arrives on site first, should set up a construction office with storage and workshop.

Grand Porter Co has established a small open-air construction office with crafting and smelting capabilities, and has stocked the worksite with smooth stone and stone bricks.  A 40x26 area has been leveled and lighted via torches to allow the foundation to be poured if desired.  This work can be seen here: http://tomasu.org:8123/?worldname=righteouswrath&mapname=surface&zoom=6&x=-19&y=64&z=27.

Grand Porter Co and its founder ThorinC thanks Great Eastern Mining for its speedy construction and congratulates it on delivering on the vision outlined for the Grand Central Station.  Grand Porter looks forward to filling the interior of the Grand Central Station with Tele-Portal pavilions and laying down a beautiful sandstone floor in conjunction with Great Eastern.

Grand Porter Co is now seeking requests for Tele-Portal locations, in addition to the Taj Moo Hal and Edge City locations.  Grand Porter will build the Tele-Portals and ensure all links to and from Grand Central Station work correctly.

Furthermore, Grand Porter Co is engaging in research and development of a Tele-Portal that allows the movement of livestock and other animals, enhancing farmers' livelihoods and allowing wildlife re-population to occur.

Melbosa Manufacturing would request a portal to the Flaming P, to allow for quick travel to upcoming manufacturing and designs.

There appears to be a teleport hut located near Moo Hal which is about a kilometre away from the Land of the Flaming P (aka the Claplands*)

The UTA can set up a rail link if desired.

*groaaaaaaaaan lol!

Grand Porter Co acknowledges Melbosa Manufacturing's request for a Tele-Portal regional station at the Flaming P and has added it to the list.  Although a UTA-administered rail link is a splendid idea, Grand Porter would like to bring attention to the nether portal found in the basement of the tower of the wizard of Moo Hal: http://mc.tomasu.org/#/-1453/64/-280/max/0/0.  From here, citizens can travel the relatively safe passageways of the Nether Halls to the nether portal at the Flaming P.  A new access hallway may need to be dug.  A reminder to the citizens to not let their children roam the Nether Halls alone, and that all travel is always at their own risk.

With an aggressive construction plan that is now ahead of schedule, Grand Porter Co has opened new regional Tele-Portals in the following locations:

Lennyton
South Leenton
The Flaming P
Frontier Hotel

Grand Porter Co is excited to be opening new modes of travel to the far-flung reaches of Usamot, and hopes that the Tele-Portals will always be used for peace and prosperity.
