Title: good deals on cell phones
Post by: Thorin on January 05, 2013, 06:19:55 PM
So I got a new cell phone this week (kept the same number). I bought a Samsung Galaxy S II X from Koodo. It was $250, of which $150 can be put on a Tab which slowly gets paid off as you pay monthly bills. I then got the bkgest promo plan, $56 a month for unlimited talk (really, unlimited anytime minutes!) and unlimited texts and 2GB data per month. The S II X has the same processor as the S III (at least in Canada), but half the storage space and a slightly lower quality back camera. Beyond that it's the same phone (oh, slightly smaller screen, too). It's working nicely so far, although the touch screen sure is different from the dedicated keyboard I had for years.

Anyway, with this plan I could replace my house phone if I was the only one living there.

As my phone is literally disintegrating after 5 years of abuse maybe it's time I look at something new :D

Galaxy S (I) for me, S II for my wife and youngest daughter, and just got my oldest daughter S III for Christmas. My son had a different Samsung Android but in the summer switched to an iPhone.

Haven't had a home phone for over a year. Love the Android OS, and the fact that the S III vs II vs I = different enough to be worth upgrading, but not so different that we have to re-learn an OS when we pick up each other's phones. Samsung ftw!

I'm going to be getting a Nexus 4 soon. Just waiting on Google to fill the latest orders.

I have a cheap VoIP service for my home phone and long/long distance calls.

Still really like the iOS platform, however I think androids ecosystem has reached a point where I could switch in the next generation.

Here we observe the delicate behaviors of the rare Apple user of the family. Watch how he cusses at iTunes while trying to upload music...

I know, we thought we raised him right. Thought he knew better. But stubborn, that boy of mine is. Eventually we gotta just stand back, let him suffer the consequences of his choices, so there ya go, GL son!
