Y'know I rarely downvote something but when I do I feel it's important because it sends a direct message to the video creator without having to resort to the nightmare zone that is YouTube comments

That last one is a somewhat interesting issue. when a video gets more than 300 views, its stats are locked pending a review to see if they are legit. After a few hours to a day or so the stats will unlock and you'll see the real data.

The reason you may get more than 300 likes or views while the stats are locked is because each individual server in the cluster will decide whether to increment the count based on its own view of the stats, so multiple inccrements can hit the counter before the stats are actually locked.
