Title: a judge's decision laced with Star Trek references
Post by: Thorin on May 08, 2013, 03:56:25 PM
Eleven pages of a judge's decision to punish lawyers who deceived courts and abused courts to force copyright infringement settlements.  The best part?  All of the Star Trek references the judge threw into his official decision!

The front end was really loaded with them and then there where a few at the end... I don't think I will ever see another judgment so entertaining and gripping to read.

Man, I just started reading, let's just say that Star Trek is the best fandom.

I love love love that he punishes the copyright trolls who he has identified as making an actual business out of suing people into settlement by abusing the legal tools the court provides (such as forcing ISPs to give up IP addresses by court order with no intention of actually following through on any court-related activities).  I mean, they made sure to ask for an amount of money that the typical defendant could afford, it would be just a little less than a basic defence in court, and would drop the case if the defendant said, "No I don't want to settle, lets go to court".

And then to throw in all those Star Trek references was pure gold.

OH SNIPPETY-SNAPPERS

I think it would be fairly costly to the Star Warsian side if the universes collided, I mean the costs of the affiliation badges alone!

Then they have to deal with an increasing fractional percentage of Kirk DNA entering the galactic gene pool

I do believe Star Wars would be boned.

Depends on if UFP tactics and weaponry are able to be fully utilized, they are extremely tiny in number compared to the Empire, but hoo boy are they tricky techies!

Imagine what they could re-route through the Death Star's main deflector dish!
