I played BECMI D&D (still have the rulebooks), which has as its default setting the world of Mystara.  When I first saw these games in the arcade, I was hoping for a nice treatment of Mystara (it has a lot of source material and a lot of background and a ton of different settings to play in).  Instead it looked just like Golden Axe :(  The game itself appeared fun, but I couldn't get over the disappointment of it not really exposing any of the wonder and diversity of Mystara, so I ended up skipping it most of the time.

The world that Bruce Heard created within the glommed-together original unplanned Known World (what turned into Mystara, complete with a hollow planet where the Immortals, aka gods, placed civilizations that were about to die out but that the Immortals wanted to preserve), well, it was really cool.

Yep, this is a classic beat 'em up based on the source material, it's tons o' fun.
