Title: Weekend Adventure.
Post by: Tom on July 29, 2013, 12:20:38 AM
So instead of doing anything particularly productive, I had the desire to play some mc...

Instead of explaining how things went, here's some pictures.

Oh, I should expand on that a little.. I found two really large abandoned mines and cave systems. And a third not quite so large one.

It was insane. The first one took a couple hours to explore I think.

I have a metric butt ton of resources now though, and a new house build! So yeah. Cool times.

Hah, my plans this weekend included drawing and Minecraft but ended up being totally different :)

Nice!  I was on for part of that :)

Lazy, if you're feeling the MC itch you should arrange with us so we're on at the same time.  MC can be lots of fun with others online all working on the same build.

Contemplating first reclaiming materials from my broken incomplete builds and seeking out fresh land to build on.

If you want to go back and fix stuff in creative let me know, I only took a cursory look after the last griefing so I don't know what state your stuff is in

I was surprised how fast I could get back into the game after putzing around for a bit...

The beach village is the only thing that that might apply to.. My other builds are mostly incomplete due to my own redoing and not finishing.. however I might re-spawn some villagers since I spent so much time moving  them legitimately to begin with. Zombie siege mechanics do kinda suck however.

The adventure continues: http://imgur.com/a/WqZsH

Added some more images. Basically spent a couple/few hours getting back to my new place from the far out reaches I managed to get myself lost in. I think I nearly hit x 6000 z 2000 or so.

Made out like a bandit though.

I guess there was a cowpocalypse

Or stuff found in abandoned mine chests

Yeah, I ran out of baked potatoes and started using my Fire Aspect sword on some cows. Insta steak. I should rename it "SteakMaker" or something ;D

Hah! I have one of those, I labelled it the "Shishkebab" after the Fallout weapon

Actually I wonder where I stored it now... hmm

You know you can just /home, get more food, and then /back, right?  There's few enough frickin' animals on our map as it is now.  Hell, even the Taj Moo Hal, which had 50+ cows when we first built it, went down to, like, 5 cows.  Then I went and bred a whole bunch, got over 80, now it's probably back down to 10.  I don't understand why they keep going missing.

I think the game must despawn mobs if they get over a certain count.

Post by: Tom on July 30, 2013, 11:20:57 AM
I really didn't want to mess up my /back location in case I needed it.

The whole excursion was to go on an adventure, and if theres 100 cows out there in the wilderness, I don't think killing a few cows hurts much ;)

And yeah I'm pretty sure mobs despawn and/or glitch out eventually.

Hey, I like that idea of setting out on an adventure...

Maybe we should organize an event again soon where we all sign on around the same time and go off in a random direction, and then agree that we won't bring anything to start, won't use /home or /back or any of the other "cheaty" commands.

If you're on single player all you need is a bed really :D

But yeah, I'm up for a Minecraft crawl, when were you thinking?

Those make me think of the Tiny House movement: http://www.tumbleweedhouses.com/

I like the first one better, looks more like a house.  The second one looks like someone barfed up some blocks.

Dunno.  I know you're off on vacation soon, wanna do it before then?  Lazy, Tom, Mel, would you all be in on this?

My moods are fickle. I guess it depends on when you want to do it.

I'm on the road Saturday and will be back Tuesday, then Fraga is Thursday - Sunday

Then whenever, 'cause I'm off the following week.

Friday might work, if we get started around 7 or 8?

I need a little birch wood.

Post by: Thorin on July 30, 2013, 06:27:00 PM
Ha ha, been there, done that with the birch :)  what's that in the background?

Man, we need the Overviewer back so I can search for your base :)

Friday at 7pm sounds good to me. I've been thinking, if we're going to treat this as if we just started a new map maybe we should have an op teleport somewhere and then teleport the rest of us in (and teleport us in again if we die). Since I'm suggesting starting without any equipment, it wouldn't be fair to make everyone run a thousand blocks or more to the "new spawn".

Damn it'll be fun to do a start-from-scratch run. Although I might miss all my magicks...

That's my floating base. built out of natural terrain. Mostly untouched.

Is this a together thing, or a everyone off in a different location thing?

I was hoping for an everyone-working-together night. Kinda like how a worked on that island, except I'm not doing a giant mansion house with a sunken basement this time.

There is a "set home" command I believe we can all use to set spawn.

I could set up a command block to do it.

But I guess first we need to find new territory.

Decided to put in a path down from my tower while waiting for crops and trees to grow.

I can't get a good angle for it, since its a rather large area...

Also not sure I'm keeping it. We'll see what happens after I get the big build done.

Whoa, I didn't realize that was a snow biome

It's mostly Ice Plains and Taiga. The snow kinda sucks, but I really like the area.
