NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
ugh
I cannot stand this guy at all, at all. It's gonna be like "Catwoman" all over again
*Bat-Rappels off the world*
"let's just say the Internet is not happy" (http://www.newser.com/story/173040/internet-loses-it-over-ben-affleck-as-batman.html)
(my personal favorite: "Be thankful Ben Affleck said yes. You know James Franco was next on that list.")
*shudder*
HuffPo for the contrarian view:
"Ben Affleck Is A Good Choice for Batman; Batman Is Not A Good Choice For Ben Affleck" (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/mike-ryan/ben-affleck-batman_b_3805087.html) <-- article reminds us that, oh yeah, he's played "Superman" before, i.e. George Reeves! "...for the first time in five or six years, people were making Ben Affleck jokes again. As an admirer of Ben Affleck's recent work, this made me incredibly sad. I'm just afraid that, at least for the time being, we've lost a great filmmaker."
For me it's just personal taste.
I find Ben Afflek repugnant.

Considering how in the last few years he is (deservedly) becoming a respected pillar of the film directing community (mainly thanks to The Town, but yes I gotta say also thank to Argo*), imo this casting decision smells of some nefarious plan, one which has placed him in an extremely uncomfortable place. The bat-fans are in need of solace -- hey Warner Bros., are you open to suggestion?
*(...@% yourself ;) )
Respect? For what? Turning a key part of Canadian history into rah-rah American propaganda?
Ben can go stick his head up his bum
(brilliant idea)Hey Warner Bros. -- do you want the next Batman to be stirring, inspirational? Then hire Nicholas S. Selby (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98nNpzE6gIs)!(/brilliant idea)
I dunno, flamboyant speeches are usually reserved for Bat-villains
How about William Shatner as... Robin! No? How about Alfred?

Now that's a movie I'd go see

lol -- well, due to the possibly high degree of "borrowed*-ness", some in Redditville (http://www.reddit.com/r/videos/comments/1kounp/epic_welcome_speech_georgia_tech_freshman/) have bgun calling that speech-giver a villain (or worse)

* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HzbudsNuVM#t=8m46s (that entire speech "Saving Science Fiction" is actually pretty bad-ass too!)
...I have this urge to watch The Incredibles again all of a sudden :D

...By morning, the entertainment press were focused as much on the negative online reaction and portrayed it as if it was some kind of widespread mainstream public opposition to the casting rather than a typical online situation where the loudest voices just get more attention...
fair point. Interesting article. Sometimes easy to forget that the vocal internet is not the entirety of a fanbase.
Holy @%, now there's some PR spin!
Huge internet backlash == WELL THAT'S NOT MOST PEOPLE
I mean, sure maybe one or two internet blowhard is a bat-fan ;)
