SOooo ughh, that video made me watch Pacific rim last night. also got Independence day while I was at it (watched the honest trailer for that too). So thanks I guess?

They sure are right about Pacific Rim being stupid. I've seen some stupid anime, but that was like... wow. ranks up there with stupid anime. It was an enjoyable action flick, for the most part. some moments had me WTFing, but it didn't detract too much from the immersion.

ID4 is like the Gold Standard for super-rah-rah-America speeches by military/political leaders just before The Heroes predictably kick ass to end the third act.

Not sure if that's a good thing or not. But somehow that film is once-a-year rewatchable in spite of how laughably justified the "Cinema Sins" and equivalent are when they offer a scathing review of plot holes etc. Somehow. It's like Armageddon in that respect.

Personally I like it's honest badness

Like Godzilla movies, it's just the best

Yeah, it's not trying to be a good, or serious movie. Though I think they tried too hard to be non-serious. like that whole desk toy thing, or the dude coming out of the monster's gut at the end (he really should have been dead). That pulled me out of the movie. It was just a little too forced. There were a few moments like that.
