(a fun thought experiment... or the uncovering of a conspiratorial mystery?)
Apparently it all comes down to a lengthy "Man vs Machine" war... which we lost.
Post-TheIncredibles (which took place in an alternate 1950s/1960s), Syndrome's omnidroid "killbot" rogue AI likely was behind the development of mega-corp Buy-n-Large (BNL) ... "machines did take over, just not as we expected. The machines used BNL, a faceless corporation (which are basically faceless in nature) to dominate the world"...

...and "the reason no humans show up in A Bug's Life is because there aren't a lot left"...

I always suspected Fred Willard of being some kind of machine...
TBH I thought this conversation was going to be about production of some kind. Did some of the last few Disney/Pixar films seem a little disjointed? Well they should! On the last few projects (including a future one) the directors have been removed and replaced by John Lasseter...

Apparently "change the Director halfway through" is not too out of the ordinary for Pixar over the last 5 or so years. Doesn't really kill the final product as much as, say, a Batman movie ... the vision and plan seem to remain pretty much unchanged. But for most of the past decade they've managed to put out a new Pixar work of art EVERY SUMMER, other than this one... and virtually all take home $200million+ so they're still doing something right!

PS: you've got CRACKED to blame for this one!
Quote from: http://io9.com/how-all-pixar-films-fit-into-a-single-universe-770848610
...After watching a video on Cracked suggesting that all Pixar films are set in an apocalyptic universe, Jon Negroni attempted to create a universal theory of Pixar, using the plots and Easter eggs to connect them into a single, time-skewing world...
I think the one that hurt having a directorial change the most was Brave, from what I understand a lot of the real meaning was left on the cutting room floor, sounds like the same thing is going to happen to The Good Dinosaur
