So I was sick for a few days and stuck in bed, I ended up watching a bunch of AMC's Hell on Wheels via Netflix. I have to say I'm impressed, I wasn't sure what I was expecting, in general I just avoided it but it's a pretty good period drama

The story is based on the building of the railroad from East to West around 1866/7, but it's not all that historically accurate, rather it's more about a group of tightly wound misfits working together in hostile country, how it affects them just as much as they affect it.

The first season is a bit clunky but much like a locomotive picks up steam and starts to weave an interesting story. Not one of AMCs best I'll say, but worth watching if you're looking for something new.

Also it's filmed here in Alberta so you get to see a lot of great country around the Bow River area

Sounds like a fair description for "Halt and Catch Fire" as well  ;)

I'm about mid way through Season 3 right now, it really picks up steam I can tell you.

I've heard a lot of good things about that series as well
