RJ had a great small part in an X-Files episode. And if you remember the short-lived "Flash Forward" TV series he kicked ass as a soft-spoken -- and thus all the more scary -- bad guy. He's had other acting parts too.

But he really shines when he does what he does best. Imagine Penn & Teller as a solo act, and less mean humor (but still lots of humor -- sometimes with a dark tone to it).

I just watched this at lunch time on Netflix -- https://duckduckgo.com/?q=netflix+deceptive+practice%3A+the+mysteries+and+mentors+of+ricky+jay -- Entertaining, FASCINATING STUFF!

It's a documentary -- but really it's more like an interview... or perhaps at its core it's essentially a few cameras rolling while a genius tells stories of other greats in his field. With magnetism and wit. And plenty of old footage (of both Ricky as well as his dozens of mentors etc.)

Watch it on Netflix ... before it vanishes!

(oh yeah, remember the film "Magnolia"? Well Ricky Jay is the goddamn NARRATOR. Yeah, that guy. That VOICE.)

Bwah!?

I love seeing multi-talented people like this because there everywhere and you don't notice it until someone points it out

In that case might I suggest 2 other docs?

-That Guy... Who Was in That Thing (2012) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2402200/ (a bunch of character actors*, some of which eventually got "lead" roles)

-I Know That Voice (2013) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2113683/ (featuring HIM, BENDER!)

Both on Netflix. Both are well-paced and full of pleasant surprises and lots of smile-inducing stories and "aHA!" moments.

* it was a real treat watching TG...WWiTT without first knowing in advance who would be featured, but if you are curious (since you are just as much of an IMDB Nerd as I am)...
