My PS4P Experience

So I bought a PS4 Pro last night, Costco bundle with Call of Duty Infinite Warfare and a second controller. I wanted one for exclusives you can't get on any other console, like Uncharted and Horizon Zero Dawn.

But because it was going to take a while to download HZD, I thought I might fire up this Call of Duty game and see what it is like.  Normally I wouldn't buy it as I have enough FPSs to play in my games list, but because it was the only PS4 game I owned that wasn't downloading I figured I see what the hype of the PS4P and CoDIW was all about.

Well first impressions of the Controller is that the PS4 controllers are better designed for my hands than the previous generation.  More relaxed and easier to use, and that being said knowing I still prefer the XBone controllers over all others.  The extra speaker in the controller for added ambiance in games is a nice touch.  I haven't had much need to for the touch pad on the controller yet, but I guess if I start using the web browser on the console it might come in handy.  The controller is also much lighter than the XBone's and even compared to the PS3 models.

So then on to the Console.  Much larger than the PS4 org, the Pro does sit fine upright as it does on its bottom.  The one major notice I had as CoDIW started to ramp up its graphics - the fans.  The PS4P fans are super loud compared to the XBone and previous PS3.  I mistook the noise at first as being part of the surround sound of the aircraft in the CoDIW cut scene, but soon noticed it for what it was after the scene moved on to a dramatic silent pause.  Man are they loud at the other side of my living room.

And then CoDIW; what can I say.  I was very very very surprised on how well done this game was for its campaign.  And it plays very well on a controller I must say, as which I would typically lean more towards a mouse and keyboard for FPSs.  Being that the game is set in the future and has a very similar setting to Expanse the TV show, there wasn't much raw-raw USA in this one, more UN-Earth vs Mars' Military. And they MoCaped real actors into the game as well, as I am able to visually identify actors from TV and Movies even before I hear their voices. I'm not done the campaign yet mind you, only a few hours in, but I can see myself finishing it as it has me pulled in.

So that is my 4hs in experience so far with the PS4P, but I'll let you know if I notice anything more as I go.

CoD is generally a very polished experience these days I'm surprised to hear the fans had to work that hard though.
