Here's hoping that the UI's shrunk

What does the author mean? How bad did AoE2 go compared to #1, and what are the chances that #3 has even more UI stuff in the way of the map?

Duno what he means.  I found the UI in all Age games just fine (including Mythology)

Based on the diverse comments at the IGN article, it seems like some likey, some hatey... But overall it appears it's like typical Microsoft: the improvements to the game may be noteworthy but not necessarily new-purchase-worthy ?

Its been a few years since the last in the series, and a long while since a great RTS.  Im in the market, and wanna know if this is the way to go.  Guess i'll try the demo tonight, maybe download the "full version trial" in a couple weeks time.
