Ok, I was doing some checking around before I hit the hey tonight (late late late, bad me) and I looked at the list of "upcoming movies" and just about puked my pants:

*  Superman Returns
* Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties
* The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift
* Click
* Nacho Libre
* The Devil Wears Prada
* The Lake House
* Bordertown
* Strangers with Candy

* Fanboys

For the love of Lumiere can we drop these upcoming clinkers on the cutting room floor please? If Hollywood wants to blame illegal downloaders it would help a lot if they didn't make such horribly CRAPPY CONCEPT FILMS! A sequel to Garfield? Another Fast and the Furious WHAT THE HECK! Then we have a Meryl Streep vehicle (shudder), a Jennifer Lopez title that plays with current events in a less meaningful way than Gung Ho ever did and finally a movie about someone nearly 50 going back to high school (cluebat time, you can go to college to finish your high school) this dumb plot might be better with Carrot Top.

Arrgh! I'm going to watch "Citizen Kane" tomorrow after work, just to get some focus again.

Nacho Libre looks like it might be funny.. but other than that I agree the list is sickening.

I bolded the ones that were really bad.

From the radio spots, I'd have added Nacho Libre in bold as well.

It seems as if theres only ever one really good movie a year (or less), and the rest just stink.
<Zapata Prime> I smell Stanley... And he smells good!!!

Thorin

Superman Returns might be good.  If the rating's low enough I'll probably take my kids to it.
Prayin' for a 20!

gcc thorin.c -pedantic -o Thorin
compile successful

Sorry, I should clarify, those were all upcoming releases posted on IMDB, I bolded the ones I thought suck.

Oh, will superman returns turn into just another kungfu movie? Like batman? (not that I thought batman returns sucked, it just seemes a little too "me too"ish)

Then again, martial arts was about all batman had going for him, besides some cool toys.

Woohoo! At last a big screen version of this classic Canuck show ;)

Seriously though, Why ??? did you include SWC in the list of uggos? Cuz that is one sketchcom show that has a lot of fans, and had a pretty solid cast by the sound of it.

A sequel to the Garfield movie? Yeesh.

I actually watched the first one (it was on TV at the time). It defenitely had that made-by-committee flavour. I have to admit it wasn't quite as bad as other movies, but it wasn't good either. I have to wonder what the take was on the first movie and if that's what influenced the creation of a sequel.

I saw the preview for The Devil Wears Prada and that one that really ground my gears. It's based off of a book and I'll grant that some people find stories that echoes many of the points covered in Working Girl just their cup of tea. However despite Meryl Streep's cleverly arching eyebrow, the trailer failed to impress. In fact it enraged me. It might as well have been three minutes of Meryl jamming giant flashcards into the frame such as "LAUGH NOW" "DISLIKE SNOOTY PERSON" "LAUGH AT SHOULDER PADS" "SYMPATHIZE WITH BAD INTERVIEW" "LAUGH AT STEROTYPE".

Granted, the trailer takes a unique approach to the presentation which I liked (no "in a place where" or "in a time where") or dramatic music over various clips. However the content... Ugh.

Yes, instead of being a parody of after school specials they just insert crap from the Hollywood comedy recycling bin in a hollow mockery of a mildly quirky tv series. Think of Bean and compare it to the series and you'll have an idea of what I'm talking about. I'd watch Serenity or Gigli before this puppetry of the puerile.

Okay next week sometime I'll have a Serenity viewing beer+pizza party -- I'll take the above as a promise to appear ;D

Oh, and re. Gigli: mmm... lesbian J-Lo... ;)

I'll have to reiterate my sentiment; since I would never see it I wouldn't watch anything before it either :D
