One of the guys at work turned me on to this internet tv show: http://www.welcometothescene.com/

Its about a distro-release group that gets movies before their release, and produces them on the web.  Touches a lot of the aspecs of this part of the internet, including the asian bootleg marked.  Its a drama, so don't be looking for humour.  The first 2 eps are a bit slow, but as it progresses I find I can't wait for the next one.

Also an interesting perspective, as you see the team member's desktop, with a small window in the top left which is a webcam and mike on him, and then you see all the IRC and IMs going on.  Vocal dialog is minimal, but that's not the point, as I'm sure most of these groups really don't talk over voice anyway.

Really neet.  Check it out.

Thread Resurrection Time!

So just got this email today about this Internet Only TV show:
QuoteHi all,

Sorry for the delay in getting this out to you. We switched servers and our newsletter function was offline for a while. (A special apology to anyone who has received this more than once!)

Well, the first four episodes of our new season are in the works! The scripts are written; we've just hired a new star, and we're going to shoot next week.

The reason I'm talking about four episodes and not just one is that we're changing the format of the show so that we can release one new episode per week. The eps will be shorter, but they'll also have higher production values and more video footage. We're taking the story in a new direction as well.

I'll keep you posted and let you know when we have a release date for Episode 2.0. In the meantime, check out the new trailer for our animated TV pilot: http://thescenetv.com.

And I checked out the pilot... didn't realize it had gotten so large that it was going to be a TV show too.  Still it is one of my fav shows, but not sure how it will translate to the TV (being that the whole show up to this point was based off MSN, ICQ, IRC chat windows).

I watched most of the first 6 or 8 episodes, a few of them were hard to download IIRC... I didn't know there were 20 altogether (!)

http://thescenetv.com/ has a neat little trailer, and maybe 8 still images from that trailer. Pretty sweet new "look" -- I guess inspired by WakingLife/ScannerDarkly technology, animation overlayed from digital video footage, makes sense since it's gonna look good even if original source material is poor production values.

And dammit, I forgot how hauntingly cool that theme song is :)

... So what happens to the old website http://welcometothescene.com ? :-\

Works fine for me, http://www.welcometothescene.com, and I would assume it will stick around for the 4 new eps in season two they have announced.

Yeah I downloaded all of mine from the web links on the download page, and didn't worry about using IRC.  Came down nice and fast that way.  I have all 20 eps if your interested.

Sure, throw the eps on a CD maybe for Saturday? Would be fun to watch the rest... Last one I saw was when the older balding "narc" guy used some document properties to tell his buds he was being watched by the feds :)

Oh, and IIRC=If I Recall Correctly; I don't use IRC ;)

Stupid Internet Shorthand... me gets so confused some times... definately think IIRC should be banned... too close to IRC that it seems like a typo.

End Of Message... A lotta time you wanna send an email where the subject line "says it all" (i.e. the recipient doesn't need to open the message).

e.g.
To: Melbosa Hippo
From: Darren Birdman
Subject: Yes, I got that thing you sent me. [eom]
