Wii at $170 American?

An EA executive believes the Wii may retail for $170 American.  An exceedingly low price point, if this is the case, and good for those of you who want to get the console on its release.  As of today, that's $189.62 Canadian.

Man, those estimates are cheap... it will be imposable to resist getting one at launch at that price.

I believe the Wii will cost 100 Gold Coins and a Mushroom power up.

I'll wait until I see the price sticker before jumping up and down.

for every one of those is a $220 and $250 estimate.  The guys at 1UP were told by a couple of "unnamed sources" that it was getting the $229 price tag.  Either way for a Gamecube with a funky controller it still all sounds a little steep.  Don't get me wrong i'm super curious to this thing, but when developers like Rein, Carmack and Molyneux are all backing away from it; all the titles its gonna see are games I feel I might be less interested in.  Japan will make that thing sell millions though, thats for certain.
