...related to that (damn addictive Youtube!) is a computerized simulation of a REAL meteor impact :o (alternative: averted! ;D )

Hey, that was damn funny! The guy did not just a funny "making of featurette", but he actually FINISHED something enough to show at the end!

Anyway, I will try to calm your disappoint with a link to this classic 8)

Maybe we should create a new board for YouTube postings :P
They seem to becoming quite numerous on this board, and my company blocks the YouTube domain through our proxy  :'(
I only drink the blood of my enemies, and on occasion a strawberry smoothie.

Darren Dirt

Ouch, bummer re. the blocking...

The Japanese meteor impact video, here is the original (complete with 'sploding sound effects). Perhaps Mr. Analog or Tonnica could translate some of the narration? ;)

That was awesome :) I had to skip much of the first video, but it was amusing. but the cgi, aversion and the "classic" were all great :)

I could probably do so but I need a lie down after hearing "arimasu" (it is) like 57 times in a 5 minute clip. But to sum up, the narration doesn't add much past what you see on screen, the title of the segment, and some extra speculative figures. Meteor impact > tsunami wall into the immediate area > firestorm of debris carried by shockwave > clouds of noxious gasses and ashes are kicked up by firestorm/shockwave covering the entirety of the earth in a burning atmospheric blanket > the seas dry up under the combined heat of the atmospheric blanket and molten lava rising up from fractures made to the crust/mantle of the earth (she specially notes this bit will happen very quickly once the other problems have happened

I'm not sure about the dynamics of the shockwave. They look cool though. And I hate to stereotype but this is very much a typical "no happy endings! Appreciate what you have! STAG BEETLES!" video in that the Earth seems to be having its' ass handed to it by Pluto on steroids (it'd have to be pumped up because diameter-wise if earth is 1.00 then Pluto is only 0.18).

Darren Dirt

Wow, you're awesome! That's great! (Umm, except for all the life forms on the devestated planet, for them... not so much.)

HOKAY... sorta to do with "End Of The World" or -- in a kinda simular artismic style to that classic Flash animation: LOTR stupidly summed up in 100 minutes

And just for a weird laff or 3: Frodo wakes up, time slows down... :P
