Diet Coke can Kill - Aspartame Documentary
1h 30min

Every once in a while I realize how ignorant I am and to be honest its a pretty depressing feeling. Diet Coke causing cancer and other symptoms might not be fresh news for you but for me it is.

It's the issue about Aspartame which is used in many products we eat.

This documentary really opened my eyes on what substances are used in our everyday foods and how clueless we are about the health hazards they can cause. Diet Cokes and Chewing Gums are no longer things I consider safe. In my mind they now fall under the same category as Cigarettes and over Burned BBQ.

Why I post about this on High T3ch ? Well, Perhaps the more people know about it the faster will we see it off the shelves. I might be spending more time in the supermarket checking labels, looking for Aspartame.

VIDEO -> Sweet Misery -- A Poisoned World

If you don't feel like watching the whole documentary I suggest you forward it to minute 46:49 which begins an explaination of aspertame studies.

Thats OK I don't get the artificially sweetened stuff.. I prefer lots of sugar.

Mr. Analog

"Diet" soda has always been a vile scam, you want to lose weight? DRINK WATER:

  • Thirst quenching
  • Great flavour
  • Cheap

What more do you want?

You sir are sick.

Tap water here is bad. I can't stand to drink much of it. I have to get the spring watter stuff.

Yep, the extra high amount of chlorine keeps it free of nasty bugs, but if you have a sensitive bowel the tap water can still cause you problems. I don't have a problem drinking it from time to time, but it is not what I prefer to drink. Also a have had doctors recommend NOT drinking tap water if you have an upset tummy and are dehydrated instead they recommended bottled water or a sport drink to rehydrate.

What is claimed as the world's largest ultraviolet (UV) water treatment system, is being installed at the E.L. Smith Water Treatment Plant in Edmonton, Alberta. EPCOR is using the Sentinel UV Disinfection System, developed by Calgon Carbon Corporation. This system uses intense beams of ultraviolet light to provide highly efficient inactivation of viruses, bacteria and protozoa.

So it's not just the chlorine.

Actually, the chlorine is mainly helpful in KEEPING the water free of bacterial nasties until it hits your gullet. But then, as you said, once chlorine is ingested -- memories of childhood at the public swimming pool? -- some people's GI tract ain't wearing a happy hat.

The solution many have enjoyed is either the big bottle of reverse-osmosis and/or filtered water (e.g. Culligan, or Safeway/Saveon's big water dispensing machine -- not too expensive, actually) or else to have one of those filter-just-before-you-need-it addon gadgets.

Or you can drink a whole lot more tap water than cola or juice, in the hope of building up an "immunity", like some of us who DO have a very sensitive GI tract (my momma almost died of colitis while expecting with me, if that tells you anything about what I have inherited :-\ )

Amazing this discussion has headed away from Aspartame and into the quality of the water supply ;D

Well, I find I go through a little more than 2 of those big bottles a month. Doesn't sound like a lot, but I always seem to have a glass of fresh water in front of me :P
