What is NNDB?

Quote
NNDB is an intelligence aggregator that tracks the activities of people we have determined to be noteworthy, both living and dead. Superficially, it seems much like a "Who's Who" where a noted person's curriculum vitae is available (the usual information such as date of birth, a biography, and other essential facts.)

But it mostly exists to document the connections between people, many of which are not always obvious. A person's otherwise inexplicable behavior is often understood by examining the crowd that person has been associating with.

Eventually, we will have synopses and analyses of creative works by the people in the database, including their books, films, and recordings.

Okay, so it's not collaborate like Wikipedia (AFAIK) but it is certainly an impressive scope they are attempting.

And hey, they cover one noteably outspoken and "inventive" "Mother" in wonderful detail, so props for that... 8)

Its a shame its not a wiki though as that will surely limit its growth

Mr. Analog

Absolutely, and who makes the call on who gets more detailed entries and who does not?

Who would have a larger entry? Linus Torvalds or Richard Stallman?

Uhh ??? whaA!? What responses were you expecting? It's a neat idea to be sure, but who manages it is all I'm asking? I happen to agree with both you and Shayne in that it would be bettwr as a Wikipedia type place.

I don't understand your response.

I don't understand my posting.

Seriously -- it was one of those "wow, what an impressive goal" moments, didn't really examine thoroughly the whole administration/management of the resource. :)

M'kay, now that that's sorted out. Do they track all famous persons living or dead? Cause that would be cool, it could become the IBDB (the internet Biography Data Base).

How does a person define "famous", according to google define: famous it means "celebrated: widely known and esteemed; "a famous actor"; "a celebrated musician"; "a famed scientist"; "an illustrious judge"; "a notable historian"; "a renowned painter"

Fame in Canada might be different then game in the USA, or Fame in my building.  Far too many people to put in that database
