User Interface, "progressive disclosure", and AJAX

interesting summary of how to take advantage of AJAX in ways that help User Interfaces do what they are supposed to do -- make it easier for data-hunters to seek what they are on the hunt for, or at least make it easier to scan for the precise nuggets they care about.

I have observed that usability takes a back seat to consistency.

You can write an app that looks like butt and have happy users as long as their UI is consistently horrible in the same way throughout.
