Not hermaphroditic, parthenogenetic.  They don't have two sets of reproductive organs, nor are they able to switch from one gender to the other.  Simply, their eggs can develop into embryos without male interaction.  Which is, perhaps, even scarier than the thought of hermaphroditic sharks.

Lets hope aliens aren't like sharks!
