Well, he did manage to become a millionaire off coding this game, so even with him giving away a large chunk of his money, I'd say he's got at least half a brain.  And he appears to have at least some skill in navigating Eclipse and writing basic Java code.  But just making changes willy-nilly like that, without any kind of quick tests to show he hasn't added a bug like, say, the lighting suddenly being disabled?  That's not how developers roll these days.  At least, not ones I know.
