Should Jon Stewart and Brian Williams pull a "Freaky Friday"?

( ...and of course even in this secular event someone chooses to cast it in a spiritual light -- i.e. blame God )

Anyway...
http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2015/02/11/why-jon-stewart-and-brian-williams-should-just-switch-jobs

Not really such a crazy idea is it? (Of course, Comedy Central is probably looking to place a Womyn in the hosting chair just because everything is all PC nowadays, but hey if Samantha Bee is too busy, maybe Mr. Slow Jam would dive fully and completely into celebrityhood since newsreader integrity is no longer something he can place straight-faced on his resume...)

PS: Williams -- suspended "six MONTHS without pay" , wow has anyone ever heard of THAT LONG of a suspension without it resulting in a termination? I mean, it's a "punishment" apparently, or is it just gonna take that long to go through every single word he's said on-camera to make sure they have a solid response to the flame wars gonna come from the netizenry as they scrutinize everything...

So btw since Oliver and Wilmore are doing their own shows, and Colbert is taking over Letterman, and Ferguson is doing a game show because he never really liked doing a nightly talk show ... who is still available that has the right kind of "fit" for TDS? (is Mr. Kilborn doing anything? -- besides boozing it up apparently ;) )

Jon was TDS. I really don't think it'll be the same thing if he leaves. Go back to what the show was before Jon joined. just another talk show. woo.
<Zapata Prime> I smell Stanley... And he smells good!!!

"This show doesn't deserve an even slightly restless host," Stewart told his audience at the end of Tuesday night's episode, formally announcing his imminent departure. "And neither do you."

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/style-blog/wp/2015/02/11/jon-stewarts-hardest-truth-the-time-has-come-to-wrap-up-the-joke/

Quote
"Daily Show" viewers' loyalty and sentimentality may treat this news as an unthinkable development (consider how many young Americans have hardly known an election cycle without Stewart's sardonic interpretation of the news and noise), but it's entirely thinkable to anyone who began to sense, some years back, that Stewart and company had perfected the form and could advance it no further.

If he's as smart and cognizant of the unvarnished truth as we believe him to be, then Stewart recognized that there was a whole other kind of "Daily Show" waiting to be made, hosted by someone else, maybe something that's not even called "The Daily Show." His version of it had become comfortable

To watch "The Daily Show" every single night before bed and to expect it to never, ever change or evolve, is like being a child who never outgrows "Goodnight Moon." It gets old. It had to.

...Good for Stewart -- he can get as far away (or as close) to the insanity as he likes. He's earned it.

New host of Daily Show is a young black comedian that everyone seems to have responded with a collective "meh". :(

Because apparently "no thanks" was the answer from 2 Amy's and a Louis. https://twitter.com/BillSimmons/status/582560069897756672

http://mashable.com/2015/03/30/trevor-noah-comedy-central-daily-show-host/ <-- a video clip of some of his best bits. He seems pretty good at solid delivery, but I also hope he is willing to ask tough questions with certain guests...

Don't worry, the new guy is "also a progressive"!

Seriously though, seems like overall people are not completely unhappy with the choice. And Noah has Jon's blessing so that's what counts. ALSO even Noah is saying he just "joining a TEAM" so what we know as TDS is not really going to change much. I don't think Colbert and Oliver took TOO many of the most briliant writers...

But honestly I find myself watching LWT in the same way and for the same reasons as how I *used to* watch TDS. Before SC ended his show I found Colbert was kinda taking the place of TDS anyway. Maybe Noah will inject some youth and freshness to TDS in a way and get folks like me back? idk..

A new interview with Stewart...

http://www.theguardian.com/media/2015/apr/18/jon-stewart-why-i-quit-the-daily-show

"It's not like I thought the show wasn't working any more, or that I didn't know how to do it. It was more, 'Yup, it's working. But I'm not getting the same satisfaction.' ... It's generally heartbreaking -- that's what the gig is." [LOL: How often does he really connect with his interviewees? "Have you seen the show? Mostly, I'm not even listening. But I can bull@%&# anyone for six minutes."]

"Honestly, it was a combination of the limitations of my brain and a format that is geared towards following an increasingly redundant process, which is our political process. I was just thinking, 'Are there other ways to skin this cat?' And, beyond that, it would be nice to be home when my little elves get home from school, occasionally. ... But really, the value of this show is so much deeper than my contribution ... If Oprah can leave and the world still spins, I honestly think it will survive me." (mad props for the sincere humility, Jon! Thanks for everything!)

imo Trevor Noah did a pretty solid job his first night in the Stewart Seat. http://www.ctv.ca/TheDailyShow/video.aspx?vid=714836

I especially liked his punny banter with Jordan Klepper re. how tough it will be for the replacement of John *Boehner*...

This comment @ a Yahoo News story sums it up pretty well...
"Perfect mix of self-deprecation, gratitude, acknowledgement of the transition, and planting the flag to be himself. He handled it all intelligently and with sharp humor."

And I felt it was a classy touch that, in spite of all the changes (like the announcer, and the other stuff that Klepper so brilliantly mentioned) they kept the Moment Of Zen (since Mr. Stewart ALSO kept it after Mr. Kilborn -- the only true ongoing legacy of TDS). PLUS Mr. Noah mentioned the "War Against Bull@%&#"  ;D ;D ;D
