Here is a potential new shuttle design currently being evaluated.

Of course the current shuttle mission (STS-114) is still active with Shuttle Discovery being repaired in space. Discovery will be landing on August 8th.

While decent, im thinking SpaceShipOne is the better way to go.  I'm not sure why we still use the current shuttle system now a-days.  sure it can carry 7 people to their doom, but beyond that?

Design is nice, but construction is important too... What was it that line spoken by Steve Buscemi in Armageddon, just before the Big Gang Of Oil Drillin' Heroes take off? Oh yeah:

You know we're sitting on four million pounds of fuel, one nuclear weapon and a thing that has 270,000 moving parts built by the lowest bidder. Makes you feel good, doesn't it?

I like the design, it's kind of a retro rocket! Hah!
