I have a stupid idea for an RTS

...and not just any RTS, a DHTML RTS - why the crunk not!?



DHTML RTS idea - it's like CoH meets Leroy Jenkins!



No need for fancy graphics, since it's DHTML nobody expects anything more than non-animated simple graphics. Heck, the units are just dots or rectangles. The colour of your side, of course. XMLHTTP for communicating multiplayer info. It could totally work. :)





UNITS:

single 1x1pixel dot = Minion - movement = 8 pixels per time unit

2x2 dots = LTs (triple hit points/dmg of Minion, move half as slow) - 4 pixels per time unit

4x4 dots = Bosses (triple hit points/dmg of LT, move half as slow) - 2 pixel per time unit

4x8 dots = APC - armoured personnel carrier, carries either 8 minions or 4 LTs or 2 bosses (no combos, as their would be political fights) - 12 pixels per time unit, double Boss hit points

1x3 dot = LEROY (see below, special unit)



BUILDINGS:

warehouse = the main base, this is where your newly trained minions come out of, fully brainwashed in your villain group's evil plans.

backalley = where your units train, can be promoted from Minion to LT to Boss

hospital = where your units can heal quickly, cuz you took it over from the heroes

slaughterhouse = where the chickens have to be taken in order to be edible

farm = where you can slowly have new chickens grown



RESOURCES:

global endurance = regained over time, of course - used up when certain global actions happen (except moving)

health = for each building and unit, it is recovered slowly over time, but once the last warehouse is 0 it is game over

chickens = found by units scouting, necessary for some actions - take it back to the slaughterhouse and then new minions will come out of warehouse



ACTIONS:

scout = unit looks around in random directions, hard to see by other units, but very poor defense if discovered.

patrol - can patrol between waypoints

RTB - return to base, necessary once you find some chicken, or if you are injured and need to heal by eating chicken

attack - one on one battle, stop moving, fight to the death (the defender can retreat but you can not) - of course since your attack was so well planned this time, you have a 32.33% (repeating, of course) chance to hit.

LEROY storm - you temporarily morph into Leroy, you go pyscho running in random directions, melee attacking, but miraculously you manage to survive while those around you die. Once you do this you have 0 endurance, and 1 health left. But at least you have chicken.



SPECIAL:

-success in a battle adds influence (street rep) -- for the unit as well as the entire villain group itself

-speed of movement/production is reduced 50% when health is less than 50%

-Minions can be promoted to LT, and LT to Boss, by training + battle experience + chicken.

-Units can also be more quickly promoted by combining 2 Minions into an LT, or 2 LTs into a Boss -- + chicken of course.

-Secret powers available, if enough chickens available and enough influence:

   LagJump (speeds up your units for a short time so they appear to be double or triple speed)

   MapServerDisconnect (freezes all other opponents' units and buildings, for a short time)

   LagLoop (makes all other opponents' units go back to the spot they were a few time units ago)

   etc.
