Just figured I'd share this article. Summary: On March 14th, 2007, almost four years after it was implemented in the United States, Canadians will finally be able to take their phone number with them when they switch wireless carriers.

'Bout time. So everyone who might be looking for a new cell phone or perhaps a dealie, you might want to wait until '07. Everyone who isn't looking for a new cell phone or a dealie stay tuned to this, ur internets! I forecast many amusing tales of woe posted in the electronic wastelands as people try to take advantage of this once it gets put into effect and things go horribly, horribly wrong. Bug-in-eye wrong.

I'm readying the +1 Paddle of Paddling for the expected ineptitude that will spout forth from Telus when my mom's (and my current phone's) contract is up in '07. I have an awful feeling that in adapting to this number portability thing they'll forget even more how to do something simple like contract renewal.

Lazybones

Just renewed so I will be waiting till 2009. Not much of a problem I renewed my plan which has not been beat for almost 6 years now..

Sort of sad really...

If you are up for renewal I suggest going to http://howardforums.com/ and checking out what other people are getting for deals.. Not sure how many people know this but if you are a long time Telus customer and you tell them you are switching providers you can get transfered to the Loyalty and Retention department (L&R) these guys have access to almost every rate plan past and present as well as ones that match almost every provider. There have been some interesting deals from this department posted on the howard forums.
