Actually there is, but it runs like a server. Jon is using it here I'll have to ask him what it's called.

I am talking more along the lines where in ICQ,AIM,MSN you can just multi select a bunch of contacts and they can all chat in one window.. No extra software required.

Yah.  A third-party "Google Talk Conference Bot" has been created.  We're trying it here at work, but I would say it's still sorta clunky.  Nothing stopping you from writing your own, though
