Good pilot; it has potential.  It'll help that there's an overarching goal for the Heroes, rather then just a villain of the week.  It's a bit of a gamble for a major network to greenlight a super hero show with no actual comic book ties;  I'm glad NBC showed some guts.  Its on again at 9:00 PM tonight on NBC (channel 11 on my cable).

Looks like it might be good (if the network gives the cast and writers enough time to "get comfortable") but a LOT of IMDBers were saying it's basically a rip of X-Men, or The 4400... But others say "is ANYTHING original nowadays?" ;)

Also one of them mentioned another new TV series, "Jericho", apparently like "The Day After meets Lost" or something... Some unique, creative premises this year, nice to see.

But I'm still not going to re-hookup cable. ;D ...heck, it looks like somebody even posted the pilot of "Jericho" on YouTube (!) 8)

Yeah it has a lot of similarities to X-Men, but really, the whole genetic evolutionary back story is really the only feasible track for a real super like abilities in the human race.  Chances of Radiation or Alien influence aren't as feasible.  So I can't fault the show for using that as a premise for their show.

What I did like was how each character found their powers.  The cheerleader seems to be the one who has had hers for a while, the Japanese guy evolves his through sheer will, and the flying guy just sorta gets the ability out of the blue.  All different ways of getting the powers and you get to see how they react.  The women with the child freaks me out... her power is the scariest of all.  The painter... well I'm not sure where they will go with him.

Again lot like X-Men, but I think with an original twist, if only in feeling if not story telling.

Well, we shall see.  Would be nice to watch network TV outside of like HBO (Entourage OWNZ YOU ALL).

I've watched Heroes from episode two onwards.  It has me spellbound most of the time, meaning that I'm only flipping channels during commercials.

Jericho is okay as a moody show, I guess.  Personally, I hate the mood music they've got going, I hate the glaring technical incorrectness, and I *cannot* understand why TV directors *insist* on making The Government seem able to control The Internet.  In tonight's episode, for some reason people couldn't reach IP addresses, but The Government could force a "This is an emergency" message onto every computer in town.  Bah.

Funny, I re-discovered this thread, and now that a half year has passed I am happily surprised how both Heroes and Jericho have "held up" after their mid-season "break" -- Heroes especially has kept up the momentum and continued excellent story writing, yet retained the "watching a moving comic book page" feel. :)

(and ha, Shayne was right, Entourage is also an excellent show, hard to limit into genres in a similar way as Arrested Development ... such surprisingly quality writing in so many "network" shows I hope I'll have the will power to cancel cable in a few weeks once the season is over for 24... and Heroes... and Jericho... and House... and Crossing Jordan... dammitdammit)
