I'm glad Santa found ours.  I feel sorry for all the people who I'm currently looking for Wii's for.

And on the flip side, Jack Tretton is still making stupid-ass statements.

Our goal is to fill shelves across the United States. Our goal is not to have empty shelves, it's to have full shelves. If we have empty shelves, that's one less consumer who could have bought a PlayStation 3

Shouldn't his goal be to sell PS3s?!  Every time I go looking for a Wii thing (controller, game, console), I see PS3s and Xbox360s in stock.  Never a Wii.  My wife doesn't even see Wiis on the shelves, and she's trying to be at Walmart right after the shipment has arrived and they should be putting them on the shelves.

So there's about twice as many Wiis sold as PS3s, yet a GameStop executive thinks that Nintendo caused the shortage intentionally.

Quote
"I believe that next week we get our first allocations of Nintendo Wii and DSs and we are quite pleased with those numbers. We were concerned about the dryness here in March, but it looks like April is going to be good. I do not think it is going to be an issue?and this just my opinion, but I think (Nintendo) intentionally dried up supply because they made their numbers for the year. The new year starts April 1, and I think we?re going to see supply flowing," said DeMatteo.

And no, there wasn't a sudden flood of Wiis that fixed the shortage problem.  They're still hard to find and it's past the first week of April.  So DeMatteo (of GameStop) was pullin' a Sony.

Now, I think that Nintendo is making them as fast as possible and that they didn't realize they'd be this popular...  There's rumours of a second factory being opened to help alleviate the shortages.  Oh, and the Wii sells at a profit for Nintendo, so they're making tons of money.

Damn, I wish I'd bought some Nintendo stock last year.
