There are strange leather-based devices which must be worn with black socks occupying space in my closet that seem to activate upon special occasions, I wonder what they are, they certainly aren't in the above identification chart.

Two of the male employees at my company certainly don't fit that stereotyping.  Some men do spend hours obsessing over shoes (and not just over the shoes women wear, but the shoes these men wear for themselves).

Ya I would say runners, dress shoes and sandals would be more accurate.

For men that spend a lot of time in formal settings possibly 2 or 3 types of dress shoes to fit different suites.
