I was looking for Drobo reviews (gee, I wonder why, eh?) and came across this blog post from Joe Mullins (yeah, I don't know who he is): http://joemullins.com/archive/2009/07/14/still-life-with-drobo.php.  Clickety-click, what else does he have, oh hey, an interesting take on why the drug war is still going on!

His basic case is that life kinda sucks, drugs let you easily escape the suck, and the rest of us are jealous that you're so easily escaping the suck.

It goes way deeper than that I think, if you're a big, top heavy government-related industry that used to track ship movements and unauthorized aircraft and you've run out of sneaky Reds to watch for it works in your benefit to shift your business to something else, something just as unending as a decades long stalemate might be...

Fighting an unwinnable "war" with public funding is a great way to make money.

Personally I think a lot more time and effort should go into public education rather than "enforcement" and know that it may take decades before reality sinks into the zeitgeist. Look at cigarette smoking, public health awareness campaigns started in the late 50s and now it carries a negative social stigma, partially due to anti-smoking propaganda but mostly due to decades of education.

It took *years* to get that song out of my head. Now it's back. The worst part is some of those kid non-actors who look totally confused/miserable as they sing. o_O (tbh, the "dad" isn't exactly the most expressive actor in the world is he...)
