Well, the season finale was fantastic!  It finally explained why Clara's important and why the doctor is so interested in her background.  It adds several new pieces of Whovian lore.  It includes shots from previous Doctors, including way back to the start when he stole the TARDIS.  I want to say more but I'm scared of accidentally giving away too much.

I think my wife said it best when explaining to one of my kids (who hadn't see it yet) whether it was good: "I couldn't even get your dad's attention away from the TV!"

Why she was interesting to him was clear, how she became interesting was the big point in the episode.

Careful googling anything about the person shown at the end there seem to be spoilers leaking.

November 23rd is the first episode of the next season.  That's 50 years to the day from when the first episode aired.  It's expected to be a big one.  That is all I can say.

And yes, don't google anything if you don't want to read spoilers.
