So yeah, he didn't even rightfully win. what a bloody douche. He and his party is no better than an incumbent dictator in many third world and eastern European countries.

Hyperbolic AND old news HOO BOY

First of all the article is from May 25th and though it doesn't cite any references, by the date you can link it up to the Robocall scandal ruling, which, I guess when they say "widespread election fraud" they mean the riding of Guelph. The Federal Court did not annul the election results but acknowledged fraud.

"The May 25, 2013, findings by Federal Court Judge Richard Mosley didn?t annul the election results, but did conclude that fraud occurred in the election. Mosley said that there were misleading calls and that their purpose was to suppress votes of electors who had indicated their candidate preferences in response to earlier voter identification calls."

Then the article gets some choice quotes from the impressive sounding "Council of Canadians", a left leaning non-profit organization that has a boner for the Liberal Party

I'm going to guess that this article has been passed around on Facebook or some other social media feed where people only read headlines, most likely Liberal Party astroturfing, one prong of a larger media campaign which recently kicked into gear.

On the plus side I found out that the Federal Court has a very searchable site, kind of nice actually, if not fancy.

Personally, I think all the Parties at the Federal level are @%&#, the trouble is which party is going to be the least @%&# by the time elections swing around, then again it's easy to paint any of them with a broad brush, well at least we get 3 viable options instead of just 2

All I know is that harper has been running the country like a dictator. And this doesn't surprise me one bit. It's just one more nail.

Hyperbole is the worst thing since Hitler.

Ok, so you're saying that he hasn't locked down on scientists, and isn't pushing agendas that a majority of Canadians don't want. All right then.
<Zapata Prime> I smell Stanley... And he smells good!!!

Mr. Analog

Nope, I'm not saying that.

I'm also not saying the Prime Minister is a Dictator

That's just silly and pointless and troll-like

I didn't say he WAS or IS a dictator. He has however done dictator like things. Ruling with an iron fist, pushing things he knows the people don't want, and locking down on all kind of dissent and criticism.

Now HERE'S something to Get Mad about, we all know gov't scientists have been "muzzled" for a little while now BUT information stores are now being purged, literally their contents are being dumped, burnt or otherwise destroyed.

http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2014/01/12/thats_no_way_to_treat_a_library_scientists_say.html

http://ca.news.yahoo.com/blogs/dailybrew/canada-librarians-tories-policy-closing-government-run-libraries-234244717.html

The claim is the physical media being stored at the libraries was being underutilized, (which is BS and not the POINT of having a library.) The claim that most of the information was being accessed via internet has nothing to do with the storing of historical information. The government claims it is digitizing the contents but there is evidence that not everything is being digitized before it's being dumped.

The thought is why should the taxpayer be paying for material that's just mouldering away in a library, well why the hell are we paying for troops to get randomly exploded by IEDs halfway around the world?

Elections can't come fast enough if you ask me...

But officially we don't have troops halfway around the world getting exploded by IEDs anymore.

But yeah, I would love to see Harper removed from power in this country.  I just don't know who we would replace him with.  It's kinda like the Sam Gagner problem.

I should specify, no combat troops.  We still have 669 people deployed to various places in the world for peacekeeping / training missions: http://www.forces.gc.ca/en/operations-abroad-current/index.page.  Also, I read somewhere that we're borrowing military pilots from other countries at the moment to keep our air force staffed up.

That's my problem, if there was a snap election today I don't know who I'd vote for, it's like picking the least horrible option, not ideal

Stephen Harper (Conservative), Justin Trudeau (Liberal), Thomas Mulcair (NDP), Elizabeth May (Green Party)?  The only other party with seats is the Bloc Quebecois and they don't have a leader.

Lazybones

This is why minority governments are nice... The PM has little to no power.

Tom

It works for European countries where they have like 30 parties. It's harder to get away with some of the things harper's been doing.
