Y'know those cheap family DVDs you always see in the impulse isle when you're checking out at the drugstore? Turns out that well runs pretty deep (and is also HILARIOUS)

I'm not even sure what my favourite crappy knockoff is yet, they're all SO GOOD

UAV Corporation certainly quit trying and decided to just prepend "The Secret of" to whatever. I have to get credit for Leo the Lion: King of the Jungle though. Worked it in!

My sister picked up a copy of "The Black Stallion". Except it was actually the TV series "The Adventures of The Black Stallion". The DVD cover could have been clearer about it.

PS: My sister was 21 and I ended up having to buy her the real one!

Oh man, that is SUPER close to the movie poster wow!

I quite like how sometimes even the artwork on these are just traced or recoloured Disney promo stuff (and not even the good stuff either, and usually badly traced)

Ahhh the world of knockoffs...

more for your amusement...

The mock names in Anime are some of the best names.

Thorin

BOOS instead of BOSS and PolyStation instead of PlayStation were pretty good, too.
Prayin' for a 20!

gcc thorin.c -pedantic -o Thorin
compile successful

Also 3rd party subtitles from Hong Kong makes for the most confusing viewing you'll ever have

It's fun watching for those kind of almost-not-quite fake products in shows.

Watching Community there were quite a few times you saw a bag of "Lets" potato chips... There were even some lines of dialog mentioning them!

Funny thing is, they looked so close to Lays, so I Googled and discovered there is an actual prop company that provides a ton of similar mock products to Hollywood!

I also remember seeing them on Arrested Development and New Girl, but my brain first thought they were the real ones. Well done, movie magicians!

Thanks. Now I want some chips.

According to Leonard, they are "crispy... salty... not too greasy" and sometimes you find one "shaped like a duck". Enjoy the photo porn!
