Mr. Analog

Eh, they just pause occasionally and the buffer catches up, for them it's fine.

So, took the sharp back and got another one. Same damn problem. All my scratching around and i have found others with exactly the same issue (though still wouldn't call it common problem). One person said that a ton of these tv's are going out with an over-sodering problem that is messin up the wireless modules.

So, not sure what to do, cause i'm actually surprised by the picture quality on the sharp. Salesman might not have been lying when he said you never ever by the entry level sharps, but once you get into "professional" grade they are great tv's. The problem is moving into a compareable Samsung (about all thats left) is an extra 650 bones (I would gain 3d but dont really care for it).

All the salesman seem to want to steer away from samsung atm. Apprently alot of quality control issues with last years models ( and this years too early to tell). And, they are apparently pulling a "Sony", now that they are the clear leader the have really started slacking in order to maximize profits (color accuracy on their new tv's being one of the biggest issues, along with weak blacks).

Not sure how much we would use any of the smart features (turning any phone or tablet into a remote, and netflix when/if we ever get better internet being cheif among them). So, perplexed what to do.
"Bleed all over them, let them know you're there!"

Wow. That sucks.

Well, thats typically what big companies do. they get ahead, then don't think they need to compete or keep up quality anymore. My Samsung's picture quality is awesome imo. blacks are pretty darn black. the actual brightness has to be turned down to like 50% or it burns your retinas. I haven't properly tested color reproduction, but I haven't had issues with it. 55" samsung from a year or so ago, bought at costco, for about $1300. Much more than you'd pay now for a 55" but holy the quality of the cheap tvs is horrid.

There was no debating Samsung still got the brightest displays. Colour i could see in the store when they were side by side, but you never know if that is an accurate representation or just the way the dimwits have the units set up.

The default calibration on ALL TVs id garbage and some stores set them to vivid.. so it is really hard to tell. Even a lower end set once calibrated can look substantially different.

Mr. Analog

Yeah you want to disable power management and set the tv to "store display" mode (it's actually a thing)

I have a tweaking guide for Sharp bookmarked at home, I'll try and find it after work, just a few small changes and you get a nice bright screen.

Hm, I'll have to look at my TVs settings again. But I know I've tweaked them a tiny bit. And since I have it hooked up via the PC input, it disables any and all fancy processing, no fake 240hz mode, no filtering, nothing. :D
