Just got the automated email about the automated withdrawal for the EPCOR (electric) bill for February, it's literally half of what I budget - $125.53 instead of the budgeted $250.

This shocked me.  So I had a look at it and bills over the last year.  Here's what I noticed:

  • in February I used less kWh than in the 11 months before it (669kWh)
  • the price appears to have been capped at 13.5/kWh as of Jan 1
  • the previous two bills had a $50 GoA credit, this one had a $75 GoA credit
  • total price is almost $0.31/kWh without the GoA credit applied, due to transmission and distribution costs
(gotta remember that when comparing EVs to gas)

Yeah, you can expect your electrical bill, if you get one, to be lower because of a max price for electricity and a credit from the government.

..

Still not enough to get me to ever consider voting UCP, though.  The credits and the extra cash will all dry up shortly after the election.
